Take a break from all the hustle and bustle of life

Sometimes the hardest thing to remember is to stop and take a break from all the hustle and bustle of life.

If you’re like me, I love being on the move with different tasks and projects.  I truly enjoy multi-tasking.  However, I find myself getting lost in my busy schedule and my back starts to hurt.  My neck locks up in stiffness and my shoulders are lifted to my ears from all typing and reading.  Yes, I even get stressed out, because that’s part of life.  You have to remember to stop what you’re doing and do something to make you HAPPY.  It doesn’t have to be a big deal, just give yourself a few minutes to chill out.  Spend time calling up a friend or family member that you’ve been meaning to call for sometime. Get outside for ten minutes and observe what’s happening around you.  Play a quick video game or solitaire on your computer.  You get the point.  Take time to enjoy life daily.  Take care and chill out more…… Hajii Otto, the Chill Out Guru™

Taking a break from reading and writing

Cornell University and Stress Management – Hajii Otto

Back in action…. Cornell University and Stress Management

This year has been crazy with my spring Speaking Tour 2010, and I’ve been loving all the excitement.  It’s been a major challenge to keep up with all my blogging especially with traveling and speaking.  However, I’ve decided to recommit myself to at least writing something once a week.  I’ll be honest, sometimes the last thing I want to do is get back on the computer after speaking, researching, or writing the entire day.   It’s actually going to be great for my mind and creative thoughts to get back into blogging.  It will be a chance for me to get my thoughts together and express myself with an external outlet like the web.  I forgot how fun it is to blog.  Ok, now that I’m back in the right frame of mind, let’s get rocking with blogging again.  I’m all charged up, and I feel the need to write…..

One of my favorite speaking experiences this year was talking to Cornell University students about stress management and enjoying their college experiences.  The students were fantastic, because they showered me with so much love and attention.  I had students like Chris M, Nora A, Rustin R, Emily C, and Matt G. help me out throughout my entire stay.  Chris M.and Nora A. made sure I was taken care of from  start to finish.  They went out of their way to make sure I had a wonderful time at Cornell University.  They picked me up from the airport and showed me the campus including some special sites.   I was able to talk with students and see what made them stressed out in their college experiences before my performance showcase.  It was good to see their point-of-view especially as students at an Ivy League school.   They gave me some great insights of contemporary college stress issues.

The showcase was a grand success and the audience was AWESOME!  They had so much energy which motivated me to perform even better on stage.  We were all hyped up with excitement.  They were so open to my message and willing to be highly active with my performance.  It was great to hear them laugh and watch them smile throughout my speech.  At the end, students told me they loved all the excitement and learned so many great stress tips.  I had a wonderful experience at Cornell University!   PS, Kara, thank you for everything, too.  I appreciate all the kindness from everyone!  See y’all again soon in the fall.

Diversity: Simple Little Things Can Bring People Together

Simple little things can bring people together.  It’s amazing to see how people around the world have things in common, even though we might not understand the different languages.  For example, most people know Disney’s song It’s a small world.  People can still understand the meaning of the song even in a different language.  Chill out more in life by opening your heart to common things we share as HUMANS.  Stress less, Hajii Otto, MS The Chill Out Guru™     Disneyland in Hong Kong

Sometimes automatic isn’t the best tool: Simplicity!

Car wash!!!! Ok, today I woke up and had a strong desire to wash and wax my car.  I normally get it done at the car wash center, but I wanted to physically do it this time.  I’ve never owned a car wax buffer, so I thought it would be fun to use one. I went to Autozone and bought everything I needed including my brand new Car Wax Buffer!

How can something so simple be so exciting to me?  I washed the car, and I was ready to take out the new buffer.  I wanted to put on the car wax and polish it off with an extreme shine!!!!!  I was in my garage, and it was a HOT HOT HOT day! I put on the car wax and started to polish it away.  Something was very wrong!  The polish was sticking to the car, and made circular patterns of wax residue.  I cleaned off the cloth with a new fresh one…the same thing-circular patterns of white wax residue.  I was determined to finish this project myself.  I read the instructions over and over again. My shoulders and hands were getting very tired.  I was seriously getting frustrated, because nothing was working.

I finally gave up on the buffer, and took out my old soft t-shirts to wax the old fashion way-manually.  I  returned the goofy buffer.  What was I thinking? I wasted all that time!  I had a great car wax product. You wipe it on, and you wipe it off. — Wax On, Wax Off…the Zen Way….lol

Moral of the story: There are times when electronics make things worse and more complicated.  You should try for simplicity to get things done first. If it’s easier to use electronics, then use it.  However, your goal is to finish the task with the most simple strategies.  Chill out and don’t make it complicated. More power to YOU!  Stress less, Hajii Otto, MS   The Chill Out Guru™  PS Save your old soft t-shirts for polishing cars and wood furniture….lol

Hulu.com is a great way to catch up with TV Programs

Masters Stress 101® Series:

Ok, if you don’t have regular DVR, then Hulu.com is a great resource to watch your TV Programs.  It’s a wonderful way to chill out  and catch up with TV without draining your precious time.  It’s actually great for college students esp for reducing college stress.  Time management is so important in college or work. Think about it…. you don’t need TV cable to see your shows.  All you need is Wi-fi connection in the student union, dormitories, library, cafe, etc.

Check it out here!  They have selections that are current and even from the past.  They don’t have all the tv programs, but it does give you options for entertainment.  I love Hulu.com
